The Day of Surgery

On the day of surgery, you don’t want to eat or drink anything 8 hours prior to your scheduled surgery (discuss medications, especially diabetes meds with your physician). Plan to arrive an hour early for paperwork as needed. The surgery itself takes about 10-30 minutes depending on the complexity. Depending on the type of anesthesia you chose, you may have a patch on the eye after the surgery. After getting home, take it easy and relax. If you were instructed to start your drops – go ahead and do so once you’re home. If you have any questions, call your surgeon’s office directly.
