Dr. Briggs Hoyt is a fellowship-trained glaucoma and cataract surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and the latest surgical approaches to cataract care. His expertise includes minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), laser-assisted cataract surgery, and premium lens implant procedures, as well as participation in clinical and surgical research advancing the field of ophthalmology.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Dr. Hoyt attended Brophy College Preparatory before earning his Bachelor of Science and supplemental Spanish major at the University of Notre Dame, where he also served as Vice President of his class. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Creighton University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for his commitment to compassionate care.

Dr. Hoyt completed his internship at MacNeal Hospital in Illinois during the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by a residency in Ophthalmology at Loyola University Medical Center and the Hines Veterans Administration Hospital outside Chicago. He then pursued a prestigious fellowship in Glaucoma at the University of California San Diego Shiley Eye Institute, training under world-renowned glaucoma specialist Dr. Robert Weinreb.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Hoyt returned home to Phoenix with his family in 2025 to join Eye Physicians & Surgeons of Arizona, bringing his advanced training and dedication to patient-centered care back to the community where he grew up.

Dr. Hoyt is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Glaucoma Society (AGS), and American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). He regularly participates in national ophthalmology meetings and research efforts and looks forward to contributing to local medical and volunteer communities across Arizona.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Hoyt enjoys spending time with his family and friends and exploring the outdoors through hiking, camping, golfing, and fishing.
